Christmas is the busiest time of year for families across the UK and with many of us off work during the holidays, a house full of people can easily become disorganised. This is especially true as children get older and start going in and out of the door to Christmas events!

However, despite how fraught aspects of Christmas may become, it is important to stay on top of your home safety. This includes keeping your keys safe over the holidays, so nobody is locked out at Christmas.

Below we have provided a few tips on how to keep your keys safe this season:

Have Spares Cut

Before you break-up for Christmas, visit our team to have a few spare keys cut. This way, if someone were to lose their key there is always a backup available. After receiving your freshly cut keys make sure to keep them in a safe spot which you will remember.

Assign a Designated Space

For your day-to-day keys, assign a designated space in your home to keep them at all times. This way you always know the first place to look when you need them. For example, you could have a dish or hook by your front door, or a keychain safe in your handbag.

Keep Your Keys Nearby

During a festive evening out there is often a lot of dancing and people bumping into you. Therefore, it is important to be more cautious of where you are keeping your keys. Having them loose in your pocket can make it too easy to fall out, whereas having it zipped up in your wallet or attached to a handbag chain can keep it far more secure.

Install a Key Safe

For times when you may forget your key, install a key safe to avoid sitting out in the cold. A key safe is a small box installed on the side of your home, protected by a private passcode. Inside will be a set of keys, always ready for emergencies.

Have an Emergency Number

However, for last minute emergencies, make sure you have an emergency number of a local locksmiths in your mobile contacts book.

At Chubb Locksmiths our emergency service is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. So whether you have lost your keys, need assistance with door access or need your locks to be changed or repaired after a break in, our team is here to help!
